The Citizens’ Panel is a group of residents who help shape services by offering their views and insight into what matters to them, and what their priorities are.
The Citizens’ Panel has been set up to enable patients, carers and residents of Essex to have a say about how Children and Young Person’s Public Health and related services can be improved, so that everyone can feel happier, healthier and more in control.
What are the Citizens’ Panel’s plans?
- To be representative of Essex residents
- Will be inclusive, informative and innovative
- Members can represent themselves or be an advocate for others
- We will listen to views about improvement by focusing on outcomes for citizens
- The focus will be on Children and Young Person’s Public Health Services in Essex (pre birth – 19 years old)
The Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service regularly hold informal workshops / drop in events throughout the year across all districts in Essex.
Families and children are welcome to attend and there is an opportunity to discuss topics such as; School Readiness, Baby Friendly initiatives, Healthy Schools and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), as well as the opportunity to give us feedback about our services and the chance to join our Essex Citizens’ Panel.

How involved do I have to be?
We know that you will be interested in Children and Young Person’s Public Health Services in Essex. We also know that the amount of time people have, and how involved they want to be in a project like this varies.
That’s why we’ve developed the Citizens’ Panel to be responsive to your needs, with three levels of involvement you can chose from at the start – and the opportunity to change your level whenever, and however often, you want.
See more information on our levels of involvement here >
How do I sign up?
As a member of the Citizens’ Panel you will be kept up to date about the work Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service is doing and if you want to, you can also take part in surveys or become more involved.
This could be by sharing your personal knowledge and experience of services, maybe by taking part in workshops and other projects which will happen over the coming months and years, and you can also help us to shape the way services are run in the area. But if you don’t want to do any of these things apart from being kept informed, that’s fine too.
You can always email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Throughout the year we will be holding Citizens’ Panel events across Essex to promote our service and we encourage people to attend to share their views and opinions and contribute to the continual improvement of the service
